متن کاملOn Geometry, Topology, Cosmological Constant, Special and General Relativity
The complementary aspects of the geometric and topological structures of a mathematical space is pointed out. The same is used to get a deeper understanding of the much abused Cosmological Constant. This brings in its wake a consistent and physical understanding of what a ”test particle” in General Relativity really is. This helps us to also understand as to what one actually means when substit...
متن کاملVery Special Relativity and TGD
One might think that Poincare symmetry is something thoroughly understood but the Very Special Relativity [1] proposed by nobelist Sheldon Glashow and Andrew Cohen suggests that this might belief might be wrong. Glashow and Cohen propose that instead of Poincare group, call it P , some subgroup of P might be physically more relevant than the whole P . To not lose four-momentum one must assume t...
متن کاملVery Special Relativity in Curved Space-Times
The generalization of Cohen and Glashow’s Very Special Relativity to curved space-times is considered. Gauging the SIM(2) symmetry does not, in general, provide the coupling to the gravitational background. However, locally SIM(2) invariant Lagrangians can always be constructed. For space-times with SIM(2) holonomy, they describe chiral fermions propagating freely as massive particles.
متن کاملA logic road from special relativity to general relativity
We present a streamlined axiom system of special relativity in first-order logic. From this axiom system we “derive” an axiom system of general relativity in two natural steps. We will also see how the axioms of special relativity transform into those of general relativity. This way we hope to make general relativity more accessible for the non-specialist.
